Green Key History:

• Created in Denmark in 1994 by professionals hôtelleroe

• Adaptation in France for campsites in 1998 by the Office of the French Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe

•  Development in France for Hotels (2005) and then furnished cottages (2007)

The Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe leads the program, along with tourism professionals, consumers and the Ministry of Ecology and Tourism.

The Green Key is a voluntary label awarded every year by an independent board to all sectors of the tourist accommodation: hotels, campgrounds, lodges, guest houses, tourist homes. ...

The jury requested a follow-up of developments and improvements of candidates.

The criteria are established at international and common to all countries. They are reassessed each year to keep the avant-garde and meet the environmental requirements of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

This reassessment is done jointly with all national coordination of the label. France has hosted the international coordination of 2002 to 2008. Now, what are the Netherlands who are responsible.
